Returning out of date or unused medication

Fenny Compton and Shenington surgeries are supporters of the NHS campaign in the management of medicine waste.

Unused prescription waste costs the NHS millions every year.

What can you do to help?

• Please let your GP know if you have stopped taking any of your medications.
• check what medications you have at home before reordering.
• if you don’t need the medication on your repeat list at the time of ordering then please do not order it, it will remain on your repeat list ready for when you do need to order it.
• Remember we are unable to reuse any medication that has left the premises.
• Bring your unused or out of date medication to the surgery or take it to your local pharmacy.

What do we do to help?

• We will only prescribe a 28 day supply of medication as advised by the NHS.
• We will accept retuned medication whether it is out of date or unused and dispose of it safely.
